Bradford South MP Judith Cummins visited Yorkshire Water’s scheme to reduce flooding in part of her constituency last week (23).
In the past, Partridge Drive in Buttershaw has suffered from flooding whenever it rains heavily due to the surface water pipes not being able to cope with large deluges of water. This results in rain water flooding homes and damaging vehicles causing distress to local residents.
Yorkshire Water’s contractors, Mott McDonald Bentley, are installing approximately 320 metres of new pipe to relieve the pressure on the current system so rain water can flow easily towards the surface water detention tank located in the grounds of the nearby football pitch.
After visiting the scheme, Judith Cummins MP said: “It was great to see first-hand the work Yorkshire Water is doing in Bradford to reduce flooding. Work like this is incredibly important as the impact of flooding can be devastating.”
