The senseless murder of Jo Cox has shocked the whole country and beyond. It has stolen a tremendous MP from Batley and Spen, but more importantly a family has lost a mother, wife, daughter and sister.
Jo was a dear friend and colleague and I will miss her greatly. When I think of Jo’s children, and all of our children, I think of the world that I want them to grow up in. A world of tolerance and of mutual respect. A world that understands that we may have our differences, but the true spirit of humanity is one whereby we come together, to work together towards peaceful solutions to sometimes complex and difficult problems. That’s the society that Jo was working for. That would be a fitting tribute for Jo.
The Labour Party has a book of condolence for Jo Cox that you can sign on the party website. A book of condolence has also been opened at Bradford Cathedral. In celebration and memory of Jo, her family are raising funds to support three charities closest to her heart. You can contribute here.
